No. 10 2020/2021 - West announce strategic partnership with C Solutions to launch Qwest Maritime

Dear Sirs,

The Managers are pleased to advise that as part of its continued diversification programme, the Club has made a further strategic investment, Qwest Maritime Ltd. (“Qwest”).

Qwest is a joint venture with the leading legal and claims consultancy, C Solutions Ltd., with whom the Managers and a number of the Club’s Members have worked for many years on casualty response and dispute resolution.

Available to both West Members and non-Members alike, Qwest offers a number of innovative products and services to assist ship operators. These include legal and claims support (including specialised assistance for ship managers), forensics, finance arrangements to assist with liquidity, and demurrage calculation and recovery. Flexible terms and arrangements are available, ranging from individual projects to full outsourcing of certain back office functions.

The services will be delivered through a global team that includes Master Mariners, legal counsel, and subject matter experts. Members should note however that these arrangements will have no impact on service delivery of the Club’s core products, which will continue to be handled in all respects by Members’ existing service teams.

This investment further enhances the range of specialist products that the Club can offer to support its Members and the wider shipping and marine industries in their operational activities. Following the recent announcements of strategic investments in Nordic Marine Insurance and cyber consultancy Astaara, it underlines the Club’s strategic objective of partnering with leading specialists to provide Members with a breadth of products and services which compliment the Club’s own products.
