SANCTIONS IN RESPECT OF LIBYA

We refer to our Notice to Members No. 3 2011/2012.

The council of the European Union has agreed by Council Decision 2011/332/CFSP on 7 June 2011 to extend the existing asset freeze to 6 port authorities in Libya and this decision will be incorporated shortly into a European Union regulation.

The port authorities concerned are those of:

Tripoli
Al Khoms
Brega
Ras Lanuf
Zawia
Zuwara

The practical effect will be to prohibit payment of port charges and other charges to these port authorities and hence may prevent vessels using the ports concerned.
