Neptune - Bunker Info tab updates
The latest VPS bunker quality data for Oct 2022 – Mar 2023 is now accessible on Neptune.
Over the past six months, the quality of HFO bunker lifted in Rotterdam has been consistently off specification in terms of technical parameters. Reports indicate that noncompliance with the ISO standard on viscosity and density have been at 20.9% and 22.5%, respectively. Similarly, HFO has been found off-spec in Miami, New York, and Busan at rates of 19.4%, 13.6%, and 12.6%.
We have been continuously reporting that VLSFO bunkers delivered in the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam region have frequently failed to comply with the Sulphur content limit, and this trend persists. In the last six months, samples from Amsterdam, Antwerp, and Rotterdam have failed to meet the statutory requirements at rates of 13.4%, 13.3%, and 9.4%, respectively.
Singapore remains a major bunkering port for VLSFO, and the Singapore MPA's efforts to ensure bunker quality supplied under its jurisdiction remains compliant is reflected in notably well-maintained statistics, with technical off-specs at 2.0% and sulphur content non-compliance at 0.3%. However, the technical quality of MGO bunkered in Singapore is subpar, with technical off-specs at 11.0%, making it the second-highest among major MGO bunkering ports after Antwerp. Other major VLSFO bunkering ports such as Shanghai, Fujairah, or Busan remain mainly trouble-free.
