Extension of Precautionary Measures to Minimise Risk of Community Spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Singapore
Since 24th January 2020, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has implemented temperature screening at all sea checkpoints, including ferry and cruise terminals, PSA terminals and Jurong Port, for inbound travellers.
MPA has also put up health advisories at the sea checkpoints to inform travellers and ship crew on the precautionary measures to take when travelling, as well as to remain vigilant and adopt good hygiene practices.
MPA has extended their precautionary measures to minimise the risk of community spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Singapore.
These are in line with Singapore Ministry of Health’s press releases dated 31 January 2020, 25 February 2020, 3 March 2020, 13 March 2020, 15 March 2020 and 18 March 2020.
The details of MPA’s extension of precautionary measures are in Port Marine Circular (PMC) 17 (“Extension of precautionary measures to minimise risk of community spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Singapore”).
MPA has also stated that PMC 16 (“Maritime Declaration of Health”) will come into effect from 20 March 2020, 2359hrs. This declaration is part of the measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) into Singapore.
Additionally, the MPA have introduced PMC 18. (Advisory for shore personnel and ship crew visiting or
working onboard vessels alongside wharves, in shipyards and at anchorages) This came into effect on the 23rd March.
