Dominican Republic - Submarine Cables off Puerto Plata

Santo Domingo Correspondents Schad Expertise, Frederic Schad Inc. have advised that a number of underwater submarine telecommunication cables have been laid from Puerto Plata on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. According to reports, it would appear that the locations of the cables have not yet been promulgated by Notices to Mariners.

Members are advised to ensure that vessels trading to Puerto Plata are aware of the presence of these submarine cables. In particular, vessels planning to anchor in the area off Puerto Plata should stay well clear of the Arcos 1 and Fibralink submarine cables.
