Xuanlun Cai (‘XL’) is a qualified lawyer in mainland China and a solicitor in Hong Kong SAR. He joined West’s Hong Kong office in 2013, having graduated from Shanghai Maritime University with a law degree and then spending several years practicing law in mainland China. He then earned an MA in Law at the University of Bristol prior to joining the Club, where he handled both P&I and FD&D claims.

In 2017, XL transitioned to the Underwriting Department and, in 2022, was then appointed Regional Head of Underwriting. In this role, he leads the underwriting relationship for the Club’s extensive Chinese membership. XL will continue in this role while also taking on the responsibilities of CEO (Hong Kong), overseeing the operation of the Club’s Hong Kong office.
