West launches ten year charitable support programme
West announce in its 150th anniversary year the establishment of a long-term charity programme.
We have made initial commitments to three selected charities for 10 years’ financial support of the chosen activities and projects, as well as continuing our commitment to local charities through regional offices.
Chosen Charities.
Sailors’ Society – Wellness at Sea
A coaching programme that concentrates on empowering seafarers to focus on their own well-being, helping them protect themselves and their fellow crewmates against depression and mental illness.
Blue Marine Foundation - Namibian Islands’ Marine Protected Area (NIMPA) Project
Despite being Africa’s second largest marine reserve, the lack of management plan for NIMPA makes it redundant. This project is working to ensure that this incredible area is managed sustainably and that it receives the protection it so badly needs.
National Oceanography Centre – Seagoing Science Bursary.
The bursary has been set up to enable students and early career scientists, or those from developing countries who are keen to become involved in the field of marine science or oceanography, to gain practical experience of ship borne science.
